Viking Runecraft was launched by Play’n GO back in 2017 and it is one of their best slots. In fact, it is still one of the best on the market. If you like Vikings and slots with falling symbols that is.

When you hear the name Viking Runecraft, you might think that this is Play'n Go's answer to Yggdrasil's Vikings Go-series, or NetEnt's Viking-themed slots like Hall of Gods, Vikings, and so on. It is indeed thematically so, but game mechanically they have borrowed from themselves, and their big hit Reactoonz (or if we're being picky Gemix which was first).

Viking Runecraft is played on a 7x7 grid where symbols such as various Norse weapons and runes drop down from above.

Wins are paid in clusters of at least 5 identical symbols and the winning symbols also disappear from the grid to make room for a new symbol drop to fill the empty positions. Every time you win, your Charge Meter of Destruction is increasing, and when 20 winning symbols are collected in a single round, a special feature is triggered (see next section).

Viking Runecraft has an above average RTP of 96,71% and a maxwin multiplier of 5000x.

20 winning symbols activates a special feature. These are stacked and triggers when you are unable to find a new winning cluster. It works as a lifeline in other words.

• Fury of Fenrir selects 4 diagonal lines on the screen. Then, 2 of them are removed while the remaining 2 lines are transformed into a single symbol.
• Scorching of Surtr instead selects 3 different symbol positions, destroys surrounding symbols and leaves a symbol of the same type as the selected one in its wake.
• Judgement of Jörmungandr creates a path from one side to the other, destroying some symbols and transforming some into a single symbol.
• Finally, Lure of Loki selects 2 different symbols and randombly removes one of those. The left over symbol is transformed into another symbol (randomly selected).

There are different levels in the game, each of which has a different pattern on the screen, so you progress to the next level by completing the pattern for the level you are in. You do this by winning on all the positions involved in the pattern, and at each level you are also blessed with the presence of one of the gods!

If you are somewhat familiar with Norse mythology and its gods, you know that they were all said to have some kind of gift or power. Here in Viking Runecraft, the different features can be randomly activated on a non-winning game round.

• Thor causes a powerful thunderstorm to hit the screen, creating between 5-9 wild symbols.
• Odin creates 4 wilds that land in groups of 2.
• Freya creates wild Symbols in 4 clusters until you get at least one win.
• Heimdall creates a wild symbol on each line

To activate the Ragnarok Feature in Viking Runecraft, you need to fill the meter twice and thus activate your second Destruction Charge in a row. More specifically, you need to win on 40 symbols to activate the Ragnarok Feature. Instead of a Destruction Charge being activated when you fill the meter twice and activate Ragnarok, the meter is replaced with an End of the World Bonus Meter.

If you win on enough symbols during Ragnarok, you will be richly rewarded with a multiplier that is applied to your total winnings throughout the Ragnarok feature.

• If you win on 20 symbols, your win is multiplied by 2x.
• 40 symbols award 3x
• 60 symbols award 5x
• 80 winning symbols award 15x

During each spin in Viking Runecraft, you can collect up to 5 different rune stones in winning combinations, which can help you reach the Valhalla runes bonus game. You need to land at least one winning combination with a rune stone symbol and complete the level's pattern to reach the bonus game.

Once you have done so, the bonus is activated by a spinning Wheel of Fortune-type reel, that appears on the screen. You win simply by landing on one of the slots where a prize is waiting for you. The Rune Symbols you collect activate the different bonus slots on the wheel, so the more you collect, the more chances you have to win!
